Google to join Net Neutrality initiative
Google will take part in the "Network Neutral Action Day" event, which will take place this Wednesday, the company said in a statement. The event is organized by the non-government organization "Fight for the Future" and is supported by hundreds of Internet and High-tech companies of all sizes.
The purpose of the event is to focus public attention on the US Communications Commission's decision to reverse the network neutrality rules put in place by former President administration. The reinstatement of the old rules was requested by FCC chief Ajax Pai, who served as chief adviser to Verizon. Coincidentally, Verizon happens to be the telecom, that was most active lobbying against internet neutrality.
Facebook, Amazon, Netflix, Reddit and a number of other companies are joining Google's support.
